Position Summary
The Manager, Data Engineering will lead a team responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and enabling advanced analytics across Hansei’s technology ecosystem. This role is critical to supporting our AI-driven automation initiatives and delivering actionable insights for internal teams and clients. As a Microsoft Azure and Power BI shop, this leader will ensure our data infrastructure and reporting solutions fully leverage the Microsoft ecosystem for scalability, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Data Architecture: Design and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures on Microsoft Azure to support analytics, reporting, and machine learning use cases.
- Pipeline Development: Oversee the development and optimization of ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and related services for ingesting, transforming, and delivering data from multiple sources (EMRs, payers, internal systems).
- Analytics Enablement: Partner with the Analytics team to deliver robust Power BI dashboards and data models that drive actionable insights for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to define data requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Data Governance: Implement best practices for data quality, security, and compliance (HIPAA, HITRUST).
- Performance Monitoring: Establish KPIs for data operations and ensure systems meet SLAs for availability and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience:
- 7+ years in data engineering roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Azure data services (Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Data Lake) and Power BI.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect).
- Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR) and revenue cycle processes is a plus.
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or equivalent preferred.
