Hansei’s ‘The Heart of It’ Award recognizes individuals who impact our organization by living our core values and going above and beyond in their work. As we recap 2023, we have three outstanding recipients who have shown exceptional commitment to our core values and have added immense value to the heart of Hansei. This award is certified by our staff.
In Q1 2023, Jessica, a proactive and reliable member of our Utilization Review team, is recognized for finding vast and effective solutions while employees took note of her honesty, kindness, and loyalty.
Stephanie, our Director of Revenue Cycle, is our Q3 2023 awardee. She is recognized for being supportive, dependable, and trustworthy to everyone she works with, living out Hansei’s core values.
Finally, for Q4 2023, our staff awarded Emily Roy, our Utilization Review lead, for her willingness to help, advocate, and bring positive energy. Colleagues affirm,
“Her genuine spirit is magnetic; she is a natural leader,
and a huge reason we are successful.”
The Heart of It awardees impact our organization and partners by living out Hansei’s core values and going above and beyond in their work. Their dedication, passion, and commitment inspire us all to strive for excellence and make a positive impact.
To be ‘Hansei’ means to reflect on the past, learn from mistakes, and aim towards a better future. We were fortunate to connect with our awardees to learn more about their journey and thoughts on receiving Hansei’s prestigious ‘Heart of It’ Award.
How do I reflect on my past?
“I make a conscious effort not to over-focus on the past… it can be a deep abyss. At the same time, I enjoy shower thinking and driving thoughts. When I choose to actively reflect, I find myself most drawn to journaling, and reading previous entries.
I really, REALLY love to write… especially with a pen, and I’ve found that (even with my hands starting to ache from years of lightning-speed typing), it’s the most healing for me to write, reflect, rinse, and repeat.”
How do I learn from my experiences?
“Sometimes I do not, BUT I make mistakes, which is how I learn best. By doing so, I learn. By making mistakes, I learn. By living, I learn!”
How do I plan to do better?
“I see a lot of growth when I re-read my journals! Every day, I try to be “better” while recognizing that “better” is subjective. Better right now is measured by my sense of self, peace, and life balance. I set small goals for myself and assess what type of human I want to be – I write small notes to myself on my mirrors and talk to my friends. Right now, I am working on a balance between being all versions of myself that I am for everyone and myself. With work, I am always trying to learn new things to improve processes and take suggestions so I can be the best version of myself for the Team and be able to show up and help every day!”
How do I reflect on my past?
“I typically focus on meditation. It helps me reflect on the past while anchoring me in the present. Through meditation, engaging in mindful reflection of past events helps to shape an understanding of what has contributed to my growth and continued development in the future. Self-awareness and focus on personal and professional growth are essential to living a meaningful life.”
How do I learn from my experiences?
“I try to consider all aspects of an experience. I consider what I have learned to either do something differently next time or celebrate the wins.”
How do I plan to do better?
“There is always room for improvement. My favorite quote is ‘Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time’. – Thomas Edison.”
How do I reflect on my past?
Historically, I have spent a lot of time dwelling on the past and not using it to help me move forward. Today, I am able to look back at past experiences, mistakes, and victories and use them in my current experiences! I have moments now where I will reflect on life situations, circumstances, or events and feel complete shock at how different things are. It usually fills me with so much gratitude.
How do I learn from my experiences?
I am someone who “wasn’t supposed to make it,” and that has helped me keep moving forward and take on new challenges. I have learned to look at my past as stepping stones leading me to where I was meant to be.
How do I plan to do better?
This goes hand in hand with how I plan to do better, too! I often ask those I work with and those around me if there is more I could be doing or if I could handle things differently or better. I continue trying to seek out information and learn more as I go!
